What types of work require adherence to Building Regulations?

Building Regulations typically apply when constructing a new building, extending an existing one, or altering its structure. They are also relevant if there is a change in a building’s use. It is essential to understand that obtaining Building Regulations approval is separate from obtaining Planning Permission; receiving one does not guarantee approval for the other. We can help and advise with this process.

Are you insured to perform work on my property?

Absolutely, we hold a comprehensive insurance policy that covers both public liability and employer’s liability. This allows us to perform our work while ensuring full protection. Should you wish to review our insurance policy, please feel free to ask; you have the right to be informed.

Will there be significant disruption during the construction?

As a reputable building company, we are committed to minimising disruptions during construction. We recognise that the presence of debris may cause discomfort, but we strive to keep any mess to a minimum and ensure that all debris is removed and the site is tidied up once the project is completed.

What can I expect for my investment?

A primary concern for clients when hiring builders is ensuring they are working with a reliable and trustworthy team, dedicated to maximising the value of their investment. Our goal is to provide transparency and clarity in our services, which includes showing clients how their funds are being allocated. We often provide a monthly balance sheet detailing expenditures, allowing clients to feel more comfortable and informed throughout the process.

How long will an extension take to build?

The duration of an extension project can vary widely based on its size and complexity. For instance, a standard 6m x 3m single-story extension is typically completed within 6 to 8 weeks. As project scope increases, so does the time required. Before we commence work, we will provide an estimated timeline and conduct regular meetings to keep you informed about the progress and remaining schedule.

Do you offer design, supply, and installation services for kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes, we provide a comprehensive design service. We can design, supply, and fit kitchens and bathrooms, offering expert advice at every stage of the process. Additionally, we can create bespoke items tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of our clients.

Who will handle electrical and plumbing work?

Our skilled tradesmen will manage all plumbing tasks. However, due to regulatory requirements, we engage trusted subcontractors for all gas and electrical work. We are happy to recommend our preferred subcontractors, but we are also open to collaborating with any contractors that the client wishes to use.

How do you manage your sites?

On all of our working sites we aim to minimise the risk of injury to both clients and the workforce. All sites are kept tidy and free from hazardous substances. We regularly tidy and clean our sites to provide not just a safe but professional work place. Clients are informed of any restricted areas where there may be potential hazards.

Are you up to date on industry standards?

In the background of the working site we aim to keep a high level of awareness of the current guidelines and recommendations. We produce Construction Phase Plans to identify any potential risks and additional procedures that need putting in place before work commences on site. Throughout construction both visual and written risk assessments are produced at regular intervals to account for changes which are inevitable within the construction industry. We have a full health and safety policy which is regularly updated and reviewed to maintain the highest standard of health and safety. Our employees also attend courses on a regular basis which benefits both the client and the employees and ensures that a safe working environment is maintained.
